How Social Listening Mentions, Scores, and Digests Work

Understand the mentions feed, AI relevancy scores, filters, and email digests

The Mentions Feed

The Mentions tab is where all discovered results appear. Each card can show:

  • The platform where the mention was found
  • The tracked keyword
  • The title and content preview
  • The author and available engagement metrics
  • A relevancy score and sentiment tag

Unread mentions are highlighted so you can triage them faster.

On larger screens, the Mentions view also includes a side panel that follows the mention you hover. It surfaces the selected mention details, AI match reason, top visible sources, platform mix, and the most active authors in the current page of results.

How Relevancy Scoring Works

SocialCal scores new mentions with AI so you can quickly tell what matters.

  • Higher scores mean the mention is more directly about your keyword
  • Lower scores usually mean the keyword was mentioned only loosely or incidentally
  • Each mention can also include a short AI reason when you expand the card

The Hide Noise toggle hides low-relevancy results. If you want to inspect everything, switch to Show All.

Ways to Triage Your Feed

Use the toolbar above the feed to filter by:

  • Platform
  • Keyword
  • Read status
  • Starred
  • Sort by newest or relevancy

You can also:

  • Mark a mention read or unread
  • Star important mentions for follow-up
  • Mark all visible mentions as read
  • Open the original source

Blocking Repeated Noise

If a certain source keeps producing irrelevant results, open the actions menu on a mention and:

  • Hide author
  • Hide source

This is useful for noisy Reddit communities, repeat posters, or low-value accounts.

Email Digests

Each keyword can send:

  • Daily digests
  • Weekly digests
  • No emails

Digests include recent mentions so you do not need to watch the feed constantly. You can change digest settings by editing the keyword in the Keywords tab.

Analytics for Listening

The Analytics tab summarizes listening activity, including:

  • Total mentions
  • Unread mentions
  • Relevant mentions
  • Top platform
  • Mentions over time
  • Sentiment distribution

Use this tab to spot spikes in conversation and see which platforms deserve closer attention.

If Results Seem Missing or Too Quiet

Try this checklist:

  1. Sort by Newest instead of relevancy
  2. Turn Show All on to reveal low-score mentions
  3. Confirm the keyword is still active
  4. Run a manual fetch from the Keywords tab
  5. Broaden an overly specific keyword if needed

If the feed is too noisy instead, narrow the keyword or keep Hide Noise enabled.
