Instagram QR Code Generator

Turn your Instagram profile into a QR code

Type your @handle, pick your colors, download a print-ready QR. Free forever, no signup, no watermark — and because Instagram killed Nametags back in 2022, this is now the only way to get a branded Instagram QR on your own terms.

Enter your Instagram @handle (we add the URL) or paste a full instagram.com link.

Encoding: https://instagram.com/socialcal

Error correction is automatically raised to High so the code stays scannable with a logo overlay.

Runs in your browser No signup or watermark Unlimited codes PNG, SVG & JPG export

Instagram used to have a built-in "Nametag" you could scan inside the app. Meta removed it in 2022, which means the only way to put your Instagram on a physical surface is a regular QR code pointing at your profile URL. This tool builds that QR in your browser — pick the handle, pick the colors, drop the Instagram logo in the center, export PNG or SVG at print resolution.

Why Instagram users need a third-party QR generator

Instagram retired its Nametag feature in 2022, so the in-app QR shortcut most people remember is gone. A branded QR code that points at your profile URL is now the only reliable option for flyers, signage, and packaging.

Which Instagram URL should you encode?

Instagram accepts several URL shapes, and each one opens a different surface inside the app. Picking the right one matters more than people think — a QR that lands on a specific Reel converts differently than a QR that lands on the main feed.

TypeURL patternBest for
Main profileinstagram.com/{handle}The default choice for "follow me" signage, packaging and business cards. Opens the feed grid.
Specific postinstagram.com/p/{post_id}Menu QRs that point at a product post, or gallery QRs that open a specific image carousel. Copy from the share sheet.
Reelinstagram.com/reel/{reel_id}Video campaigns — product demos, tutorials, anything where a playing Reel explains the thing better than the feed does.
Story highlightinstagram.com/stories/highlights/{highlight_id}Evergreen tutorials, customer reviews or FAQ highlights you want fixed behind a QR. Do not use for regular 24-hour Stories.
Tagged / UGC feedinstagram.com/{handle}/tagged/Retail and venues wanting visitors to see user-generated content about the brand rather than the brand's own grid.

Tip — Regular 24-hour Stories have URLs but they expire, so a printed QR that points to one will break after a day. Always use highlights or posts for print.

Instagram-specific scenarios from the teams and creators using this tool.

Storefront window decals

Retailers stick a branded QR on the front door so passersby can follow the shop without typing the handle.

Event posters and flyers

Venues, DJs and pop-up organisers print a QR on event collateral that opens the official Instagram page for updates and after-movie content.

E-commerce brands drop a QR card in each shipment pointing to their Instagram so new customers follow for UGC and drops.

Business cards for creators

Photographers, stylists and creators replace the URL line on their card with a QR that links straight to their portfolio grid.

Instagram QR codes — FAQ

Does Instagram still have a built-in QR code or Nametag?+

Nametags were removed from the Instagram app in 2022. There is a small "Profile QR" shortcut buried in some versions of the iOS and Android apps, but it gives you a plain black-and-white code with no customization and no download option. For anything you actually want to print or brand, a third-party generator like this one is the practical choice.

What URL should I point my Instagram QR code at?+

The cleanest option is https://instagram.com/yourhandle — that opens your profile in the Instagram app if it is installed, and falls back to the web profile otherwise. You can also point a QR at a specific post, reel or highlight by pasting its full URL.

Will scanning my QR open the Instagram app or the website?+

On iOS and Android, scanning an instagram.com URL will open your profile inside the Instagram app if the user has it installed. If they do not, it falls back to the mobile web profile, which still lets them tap Follow after logging in.

Can I put the Instagram logo in the middle of the QR code?+

Yes — this generator ships with the Instagram gradient glyph as an optional center logo. You can swap it for your own logo, or turn the center image off completely. The underlying QR uses a high error-correction level, so the code remains scannable with the logo overlay.

What resolution should I export for print?+

For anything physical, export as SVG if your printer supports vectors — it scales to any size with no quality loss. For raster workflows, the PNG export is already 1024×1024, which is enough for business cards, flyers and A4 posters. Bump the size up before export if you need it for a larger surface like a window decal.

Do the QR codes expire or stop working?+

No. These are static QR codes — the URL is encoded directly into the pattern, so they keep working as long as the destination Instagram profile exists. There is no server-side redirect, no tracking, and nothing that can be revoked.
