Best Times to Post: Suggestions in the Composer and Queue
How SocialCal suggests the best times to post — and how Professional plans get suggestions personalized from their own engagement data
Where you'll see suggestions
In the composer: switch a post to Schedule mode and a row of time chips appears under the date and time picker — for example "Best times Thursday: 9 AM · 12 PM · 7 PM". Click a chip and it fills in the time (and date) for you. The chips update when you change the date or the selected platforms. In the queue: open Schedule → Queue → Posting schedule, expand an account, and click ✨ Suggest times. SocialCal pre-fills the best days and times for that account — review and Save.Where the suggestions come from
Every platform has its own engagement rhythm — LinkedIn peaks on weekday mornings, Instagram around lunch and evenings, Pinterest later at night. SocialCal's baseline suggestions come from curated engagement research per platform, the same data behind our public best-time-to-post guides.
When you select multiple platforms for one post, the chips show the times that work best across all of them.
Personalized suggestions (Professional and Enterprise)
On the Professional plan and higher, SocialCal goes further: it analyzes the engagement on your own recent posts (likes, comments, shares, saves — whatever each platform reports) and learns when your audience actually responds. When that kicks in you'll see a small · personalized marker next to the chips, and queue suggestions will say "Suggested from your engagement data (N posts)".
A few things to know:
- An account needs roughly 20+ posts of history before personalization activates — newer accounts use the research baseline until then.
- Personalization is available for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Pinterest, and Bluesky (the platforms where we collect post analytics). Other platforms use the research baseline.
- Your own data is blended with the baseline, not used alone — so one lucky viral post can't convince the system that 3 AM is your golden hour.
- The more consistently you post (and the more varied your posting times), the better the picture gets.
Why don't I see any chips?
- Suggestions exist for Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, and Snapchat. A post targeting only Mastodon or Telegram won't show chips yet.
- Chips only appear in Schedule mode (not Post Now).
Why isn't my data being used?
If you don't see the · personalized marker:
- Personalized suggestions require the Professional plan or higher.
- The selected account may have fewer than ~20 analyzed posts — keep posting and it will activate.
- The platform may not support post analytics collection (see the list above).
