Posting links to X (Twitter)
How link posts on X work, your plan allowance, and how to keep your reach.

Why link posts on X are limited
Two reasons:
- Reach — On X, posts that include a link are shown to fewer people. X's algorithm favors content that keeps people on-platform, which is why experienced creators use "link in bio."
- Cost — X now charges through its API for every post that contains a link, at a rate many times higher than a normal post. We absorb a fair amount of this, but to keep plans affordable and predictable, link posts on X are a monthly allowance rather than a per-post charge to you.
Your plan's link allowance
| Plan | Link posts on X |
|---|---|
| Starter | Not included |
| Professional | 15 per month (up to 1 per day) |
| Enterprise | 30 per month (up to 1 per day) |
Only posts whose X caption contains a link count toward the allowance. The same post can still carry its link on your other platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Telegram…) — that never counts.
What happens when you reach the limit
When you post or schedule a tweet with a link and you're out of allowance, SocialCal offers two easy options:
- Post to X without the link (recommended) — we remove the link from your X post only, keep the full link on your other platforms, and add a "🔗 link in bio" note. Your post still reaches your X audience, and because it's link-free, it tends to travel further.
- Schedule it for another day — if you've only used that day's link post, pick the next open day.
Tips for more clicks
- Keep a strong link in your X bio or a pinned post.
- Let X drive discovery, and let your other platforms (and bio) drive the click.
- Save your link posts for your highest-value drops.
